Yalta was the holiday choice of Russian aristocrats and the wealthy for hundreds of years. Yalta is best known for the White Palace, site of the 1945 Yalta Conference between Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill, and the private apartments of the Tsar's family. Visit the famous Swallow's Nest, a small castle which was built on the edge of the cliff of Cape Ai-Todor. Anton Chekhov, the famous Russian writer and playwright, lived in Yalta until his death.
