Explore Regensburg, one of Germany’s best preserved medieval cities on a guided walking tour and admire the ornate architecture of St Stephen’s Cathedral in Passau situated at the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers.

Discover the spectacular fresco ceilings in Melk’s 900-year old Benedictine Abbey, before cruising through the picturesque Wachau Valley and on to Vienna, the “City of Music”. See the famous sights including the impressive Opera House and Hofburg Imperial Palace or perhaps take the optional excursion to Schonbrunn Palace (2017 only).

Enjoy a special afternoon tea with a local family in Bratislava, before this holiday comes to an end in the cosmopolitan city of Budapest, home to the impressive Fisherman’s Bastion and the iconic Chain Bridge.

Danube Delights Itinerary

Day 1 - UK – Nuremburg (Germany)

Fly from the UK to Munich where you’ll be met and transferred by coach to your deluxe ship in Nuremburg. (D)

Day 2 - Kelheim – Regensburg

This morning, cruise the final stretch of the Main-Danube Canal to Kelheim before continuing along the Danube to medieval Regensburg. Enjoy a guided walking tour with highlights including the old merchants’ quarter and the picturesque Old Town Hall. Alternatively, enjoy an optional visit to a brewery. This evening’s on-board entertainment is a traditional Bavarian Band. Welcome dinner this evening. (B,L,D)

Day 3 - Passau

Take a walking tour of Passau, situated at the confluence of the rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz. Stroll along the cobblestone streets, see the magnificent hilltop Oberhaus Fortress and discover the ornate architecture of St Stephan’s cathedral, home to the world’s largest cathedral organ. Alternatively, enjoy an optional full day excursion to Salzburg in Austria (2017 only), a UNESCO World Heritage Site or perhaps visit the small town of Cesky Krumlov (2017 only) in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. Day 4 - Melk (Austria) – Durnstein

In 2017, visit the 900-year old Benedictine Abbey in Melk which is home to fine Italian architecture and magnificent fresco ceilings. Later, your ship cruises the picturesque Wachau Valley and on to the enchanting village of Durnstein. Join the guided bike ride along the Danube river or the hike up to Durnstein Castle. In 2018, enjoy a guided tour of Melk Abbey or join the bike ride from Melk to Durnstein. Later, cruise the stunning Wachau Valley to Durnstein. Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned at Durnstein Castle after returning from the crusades. Those feeling active can join a guided hike to the castle. (B,L,D)

Day 5 - Vienna

Vienna, known as the 'City of Music' is a fascinating fusion of old and new. Enjoy a coach tour along the Ringstrasse where you’ll see the famous Opera House and Hofburg Imperial Palace, before exploring on foot. Alternatively, the more active can join the guided bike tour of the city. Alternatively, take an optional visit to Schonbrunn Palace (2017 only). This evening, there is an optional trip to a Viennese concert. (B,L,D)

Day 6 - Bratislava (Slovakia)

Explore Bratislava on a guided tour of the Old Town which is home to many historical buildings including the magnificent Mirbach Palace, impressive Gothic cathedral of St Martin and Michael’s Gate, one of the oldest of the town’s structures. Later, enjoy a special afternoon tea with a local Slovakian family, before heading back to the ship for the Captain’s Gala Dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 7 - Budapest (Hungary)

Arrive in Budapest, Eastern Europe’s most cosmopolitan city and home to many UNESCO World Heritage Sites including the Buda Castle Quarter and Heroes’ Square. Your guided tour takes you to the sights including the iconic Chain Bridge. In 2018, ther eis also the option to join a guided hike up Buda Hill. The day concludes with an evening cruise along the Danube where you’ll enjoy a traditional Hungarian Farewell Dinner with folk music. (B,L,D)

Day 8 - Budapest - UK

After breakfast, disembark your ship and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. (B)
