Days 2 and 3

Day 4
Lisbon, Portugal

Portugal's capital Lisbon is a large sprawling city with many reminders of its colourful history peopled by Visigoths, Moors, Romans, Phoenicians, Carthaginians and even a few warring Celts. Alfama and Barrio Alto are its charming historic districts full of narrow cobbled streets, Moorish buildings and wrought-iron balconies trailing with pretty flowers.

Day 5
Cádiz, Spain

Believed to be one of Europe's oldest cities, it is from Cádiz that Spain's many galleons once sailed in quest of New World treasure. Admire its ancient palaces and castles, cathedrals and churches, museums and gardens. The picturesque old city looks quite Moorish in appearance with its narrow cobbled streets and small squares. From Cádiz you can reach the beautiful city of Seville, home to flamenco and bullfights, with its impressive Gothic Cathedral and the Alcazar which was the palace of Spanish kings for nearly seven centuries.

Day 6
Casablanca, Morocco

Casablanca is the largest city in Morocco full of vibrant boulevards and colourful bazaars, and with a history going back centuries. Following an earthquake in 1755 the town was rebuilt and renamed Dar Al Beida (The White House) in Arabic, which the Spanish eventually translated as Casablanca. The French gave Casablanca its wide boulevards, public parks and imposing civic buildings. Explore the medina and the Habbous souk district selling all manner of items. The astonishing Hassan II Mosque dominates the entire city. It has the world's tallest minaret and the prayer hall can accommodate 25,000.

Day 7
Gibraltar

Gibraltar is the famous headland guarding the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean. It is dominated by 'the Rock' that guards the Straits of Gibraltar with Morocco to the south. British for nearly 300 years, you will find much that is familiar combined with a Mediterranean ambience. Take the cable-car to enjoy the spectacular views towards Africa, visit St Michael's Cave, the Siege Tunnels and, of course, see the famous Barbary apes.

Day 8
Málaga, Spain

Birthplace of Picasso, Málaga lies on a beautiful sweep of bay in Andalucia. Blessed with sunshine, Málaga is a city of wide boulevards, palm trees, good museums and excellent seafood restaurants and tapas bars. Visit the Museo Picasso Málaga, a moving experience of Picasso's lifetime of works, and Puerto Banus, Málaga's jet set marina. Explore the beautiful Alameda Gardens, the attractive small streets and plazas and the magnificent cathedral. An excursion to the Alhambra Palace in Granada, may be one of the highlights of your cruise.

Day 9
Praia Da Rocha, Algarve

Close to Portimão, Praia da Rocha was the first resort to be developed on Portugal's Algarve long before the boom of package holidays. The famous beach is an extensive stretch of sand sheltered by attractive sandstone cliffs with striking rock formations both in and out of the water. Sample grilled sardines at one of the traditional fish restaurants or explore the hills and the inland villages to experience stunning landscapes and traditional country life.

Day 10
At sea

Day 11
Gijón, Spain

Gijón began as a fishing village nearly 3,000 years ago and today is an important port on the Atlantic coast of northern Spain. The historic fishing village known as Cimadevilla is located on a peninsula that divides the port in half. Most of the streets are cobblestone and many of the buildings have been renovated.
