The Mare Australis is a modern expedition
cruise ship, launched in 2003. She is equipped with
state-of-the-art navigation technology, air-conditioning
throughout, and meets all international safety standards.
The Via Australis, her identical sister ship, was
launched in 2005 to cater for the strong demand for
this superb cruise.
The ships have 63/64 cabins, all with
lower beds and ocean view, private bathroom (shower
and toilet), and private safe. We have reserved cabins
for you in the AA category, the best available.
There are two spacious lounges and
meals are taken at one sitting in the Patagonia Dining
Room. Lunch and dinner each day are accompanied by
fine Chilean wines, and there is an unlimited open
bar during the cruise (selected beverages, liquor
and wines). Informal lectures are given in the evenings.
The ships each have an on-board doctor, shop, a games
room and a small library. On the uppermost deck is
an open-air area to admire the spectacular southern
landscape.
