Discover colourful Buenos Aires with an overnight hotel stay then fly to Ushuaia to board the ship. Cross the legendary Drake Passage en-route to the most remote place on Earth, Antarctica. Enjoy visits ashore with the Expedition Team to see huge penguin colonies and perhaps discover the icy landscapes by kayak.

See majestic icebergs, dramatic glaciers and abandoned whaling stations. Possible landings include the volcanic Deception Island and Cuverville Island, home to a large colony of gentoo penguins, and Wilhelmina Bay which is home to a large number of humpback whales.

Highlights of the Frozen Continent Itinerary

Day 1 - Buenos Aires (Argentina)

Enjoy an overnight hotel stay in Buenos Aires, with the option to join a city tour in the afternoon.

Day 2 - Buenos Aires - Ushuaia

Fly to Ushuaia and embark Fridtjof Nansen. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner on board this evening.

Days 3-4 - Drake Passage

Named after Sir Francis Drake, this stretch of water betweeen South America and the Antarctic Peninsula has numerous myths and legends connected to it. Relax on board and perhaps watch a film about Antarctica or attend educational lectures.

Days 5-10 - Antarctica

There are no permanent human inhabitants in Antarctica but it is home to millions of penguins and the feeding area for thousands of whales. Words simply cannot describe the feeling of being on the Great White Continent. The ice, wind and weather dictate life in Antarctica as well as our route. Every voyage is unique and our experienced crew will make all voyages an experience of a lifetime. Locations that may be visited include Cuverville Island, home to a large colony of Gentoo penguins, beautiful Neko Harbour and stunning Half Moon Island.

Days 11-12 - Drake Passage

Relax on board whilst cruising back through the Drake Passage. Perhaps spend time in the Activity Center, sharing stories and memories of your unforgettable cruise.

Day 13 - Ushuaia - Buenos Aires

Disembark Fridtjof Nansen in Ushuaia and transfer to the airport for the return flight to Buenos Aires.

For navigational reasons the Captain of the ship reserves the right to modify the cruise itinerary. Itineraries vary according to ice and weather conditions - and the wildlife encountered.
