Saunders Island was the original British settlement in 1765, and offers unique up-close opportunities to see diverse wildlife as well as wonderful hiking opportunities.

Days 4-5 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on relaxing days at sea.

Day 6 - Salisbury Plain (South Georgia) - Fortuna Bay - Stromness

Salisbury Plain is the site of the second largest King Penguin colony in South Georgia, with between 60-100,000 pairs of King Penguin. Fortuna Bay has a smaller King Penguin colony in a spectacular setting. Simple words cannot bring a place like Fortuna Bay or Salisbury Plain to life; being there is truly the only way to appreciate their special and magical qualities. Sail to Stromness, a former whaling station which was the destination of Ernest Shackleton's rescue journey in 1916.

Day 7 - Grytviken - St Andrews Bay

Celebrate Christmas Day with a stop in Grytviken. Travel back in time to discover the Norwegian whaling industry in the early 20th century. Perhaps visit the museum devoted to the history of South Georgia, or the charming church that watches over the tranquil setting. St. Andrew's Bay has hundreds of thousands of king penguins filling every available inch of space, and thousands of elephant seals and fur seals occupying the sands along the water. The sights and sounds of this bay will not soon be forgotten.

Day 8 - Gold Harbour - Cooper Bay

Gold Harbour's landscape ranges from majestic glaciers with blue-tinged reflections to waterfalls that sparkle in the sunlight and beaches with volcanic sand in darkest black. Wildlife swarms the beach here from fur seals and elephant seals to colonies of king penguins. Sail to Cooper Bay to see one of the island's most accessible macaroni penguin colonies.

Days 9-10 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on relaxing days at sea.

Day 11 - Weddell Sea (Antarctica) - Brown Bluff

Sailing the Weddell Sea provides the opportunity to meet the Weddell seal, which is recognisable by its small head, short muzzle and large hind flippers. Located in the Antarctic Sound, Brown Bluff boasts some of the sixth continent’s most stunning landscapes. Formed by an ancient, extinct englacial volcano, this site offers a grandiose setting of long beaches and glaciers, overlooked by a remarkable volcanic tuff cliff. At the foot of this impressive wall, 20,000 pairs of Gentoo and Adelie penguins nest.

Day 12 - Neko - Paradise Bay

Neko Bay is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful sites in the Antarctic peninsula. Mountains, snow, ice and unspoiled nature combine to offer a unique landscape. Wildlife is as abundant as it is exceptional; excursions aboard Zodiac dinghies allow passengers to sail close to blue-tinged icebergs or disembark near colonies of penguins, observe leopard seals basking on the shore or watch the Antarctic terns flying overhead. Paradise Bay is home to many icebergs that calve off the glacier at the harbour's head, providing an fascinating infinite variety of shapes and shades of blue. Ice floes also provide a floating resting spot for various seals and penguins.

Day 13 - Pleneau - Port Charcot - Whilelmina Bay - Enterprise

Pleneau island has become a refuge for myriad penguins, elephant seals and fur seals. In Port Charcot, Gentoo penguins nest on the eastern side of the site, and Chinstrap and Adelie penguins often come ashore here. Le Soléal drops anchor in Wilhelmina Bay, where the panorama is like no other; drifting ice, snow-covered mountains topped with glaciers, a group of humpback whales, a few crabeater seals and, above all, magical light offering the most stunning reflections. Visit Enterprise Island and learn the story behind the wreckage of the Governoren, whose bow is above water; the rest of the vessel is only visible under the water on calm days.

Day 14 - Deception Island
