Chilean Fjords and Antarctica  Special Offer

Midnatsol explores the heart of the Chilean fjords and dramatic landscapes of Antarctica on this unique voyage from Santiago de Chile.

Your adventure starts with an overnight stay in Santiago de Chile, the lively capital of Chile. The following day, fly to Punta Arenas where your expedition ship, Midnatsol awaits.

Pass the small island of Isla Tucker, famous for its colony of Magellanic Penguins before continuing south through the narrow Canal Gabriel and into the heart of the Chilean fjords, rich in wildlife. Weather permitting, there will be the opportunity to go ashore on Cape Horn.

Midnatsol crosses the Drake Passage en route to Antarctica. Get up close to colonies of penguins and fur seals during shore landings, observe whales swimming alongside the ship and visit old whaling stations during your five day stay here. Midnatsol then cruises through the Beagle Channel and the breathtaking Chilean fjords to Punta Arenas, where you'll disembark.

Chilean Fjords and Antarctica (14 nights)

Day 1 - Santiago de Chile (Chile)

Arrive in Santiago de Chile and enjoy an overnight stay.

Day 2 - Punta Arenas

Check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to Punta Arenas. Embark your ship, Midnatsol and enjoy a welcome dinner on board.

Days 3-5 - Chilean Fjords

The next three days will be spent sailing through beautiful areas including the Magellan Strait and Beagle Channel. You'll enter the breathtaking Garibaldi fjord with its impressive glaciers. Head ashore and observe the sea lions and Andean Condors. On day 5, Midnatsol navigates Cape Horn, used by seafarers before the Panama Canal was created.

Day 6 - At sea

Midnatsol crosses the Drake Passage en route to Antarctica. There will be several lectures on board as well as a tango course.

Days 7-11 - Antarctica

Nothing can prepare you for Antarctica. Go ashore to see the flora and fauna including penguins and fur seals and enjoy visits to old whaling stations and relics. Spend some time on deck looking out for whales as there are likely to be many sightings.

Day 12 - At sea

Enjoy a day at sea. Spend the day in the explorer room or on deck.

Days 13-14 - Cape Horn - Chilean fjords

See Cape Horn once again before Midnatsol navigates the Beagle Channel. Visit the small town of Puerto Williams between the ocean and the mountain. En route back to Punta Arenas, cruise through the Chilean fjords. Enjoy one last landing here, before having a farewell Dinner on board.

Day 15 - Punta Arenas - Santiago de Chile

Arrive in Punta Arenas and transfer to the airport for your return flight to Santiago de Chile.

Chilean Fjords and Antarctica (15 nights)

Day 1 - Santiago de Chile

Arrive in Santiago de Chile and explore this lively city. Overnight hotel stay.

Day 2 - Punta Arenas

Fly to Punta Arenas today and embark your ship, Midnatsol.

Days 3-5 - Chilean fjords and Cape Horn

Midnatsol cruises past Isla Tucker and through the narrow Canal Gabriel. Discover the breathtaking Chilean fjords including the beautiful Garibaldi fjord and Garibaldi glaciers. Go ashore in small boats. Midnatsol then reaches Cape Horn, where you may be able to go ashore (weather permitting). Enjoy several lectures on board.

Day 6 - At sea

Midnatsol crosses the Drake Passage en route to Antarctica. Perhaps watch a film in the Amfi or listen to a lecture.

Days 7-12 - Antarctica

Welcome to the most remote area in the world. Enjoy landings, hiking, kayaking and getting up close to the wildlife including penguins and seals. There will be several lectures on board.

Day 13 - At sea

Midnatsol heads back to South America. Spend the day on deck or in the explorer room.

Days 14-15 - Cape Horn - Chilean fjords

Before Midnatsol sails into the Beagle Channel, we will attempt to go ashore on Cape Horn (if we didn't do this on the voyage south). Continue through the Chilean fjords and weather permitting, make further landings. On the last evening, there will be a farewell dinner and tango night.

Day 16 - Punta Arenas - Santiago de Chile

Midnatsol arrives in Punta Arenas where you will disembark and transfer to the airport for your flight to Santiago de Chile.
