Life on board
Life on board our ships is relaxed
and casual. Our aim is to get closer to unique
environments and share the experience with fellow
passengers. All our voyages have an element of
education and our on board lectures are designed
to maximise your enjoyment and add to your knowledge
about the areas visited and the local fauna and
flora.
Flexible itineraries
To take account of the changing
weather, sea and ice conditions all our itineraries
are flexible and can vary from voyage to voyage.
This enables us to make the most of any opportunities
that present themselves as well as to react to
the local conditions. Any adjustments will be
decided locally by the Captain - if necessary
in consultation with the appropriate authorities
- with safety being the prime concern.
Cabins
All face outside with windows, private facilities,
and climate controls. Expedition Equipment: Bow
Camera, hydrophone, kayaks, snorkeling gear, Splash-Cam,
underwater video camera, video microscope, Zodiac
landing craft and wetsuits in Baja. Special Features:
Guest internet access, Wellness Program and LEXmarket.
A Video Chronicler onboard all voyages. A ship's
doctor and an Undersea Specialist are onboard
in Baja.
Dress code
There is no need for formal clothing
on any of the voyages featured. Comfortable clothes
suitable to the area you are travelling in are
recommended for excursions and landings. We recommend
that you bring casual clothes and comfortable
shoes to wear on board and although some passengers
may choose to wear smart/casual at dinner you
are by no means obliged to do so. Where applicable
we will provide you with a list of recommended
clothing.
On board lectures
The emphasis of our voyages is
on relaxation and on getting close to the nature
and wildlife of the areas visited and there is
little or no entertainment on board. Depending
on your chosen itinerary our experienced expedition
teams, guides or lecturers will organise entertaining
talks and information briefi ngs on subjects such
as wildlife, geology, local history and environmental
aspects of the areas visited.
Excursions by Zodiac/Polar Cirkel
boats
These sturdy inflatable boats
enable both water based exploration and safe landings
in otherwise inaccessible areas. You will need
to be fairly agile to board these but there is
otherwise no need to worry about travelling in
them. The crew will show you what to do and as
long as you follow their instructions, after a
few days it will become second nature.
Medical staff on board
MV Sea Bird and MV Sea Lion have
a doctor on board throughout the voyages.
Safety
All ships are fitted with the
necessary safety equipment and passengers are
required to take part in safety briefi ngs when
scheduled.
Smoking
Please note that ships operate
a non smoking policy throughout the vessel and
smoking may only be allowed in designated areas.
